We continued reading in our literacy group while filling out a sheet of the main topics the group discussed between every 2 pages. The lesson that we learned within our groups was to focus on our opinions of the text rather than restating it while discussing what emotions or thoughts we had about it. This knowledge could be used when trying to describe a text to someone without revealing details that occur in the text. What I struggled with was wording the emotions I felt towards the text. I came in for half a day so it felt more relaxed then usual.
Today in class we continued on our reading of the book "Fences" and got through pages 50 to 58. As we read we paused throughout the reading and analyzed certain parts of the text. This was done for us to learn how to do an analysis of text for our writing that is coming up on the entire book once we take our test. I plan to use this skill once test day comes to grasp the concept of analysis quicker and be able to complete my essay in a proficient manner. I enjoyed this lesson because it allowed us to try to find a deeper meaning and make connections within the story so we could figure out why characters acted a certain way or why the story was headed in a certain direction. I am feeling so so today as I have not been as concentrated in my classes due to my upcoming court date tomorrow. The only class I really enjoyed was aquatics as it makes me feel relaxed and clears my head.
